Concrete - Introduction

CONCRETE

Concrete is one of the most important contemporary civil engineering materials. It is a composite construction material formed by mixing an aggregate with cement and water, then allowing the mixture to dry and harden.

RAW MATERIALS OF THE CONCRETE

 coarse & fine aggregate

The coarse aggregate are granular materials obtained from rocks and crushed stones while fine aggregate are the sand obtained from river beds or quarries.

cement

The cement acts as a primary binder to join the aggregate into a solid mass.

water

The water is required for  the cement to hydrate and solidify.

Like the content of the blog where construction materials are explained generally in precise way

    Somehow I have a question:

What is the relationship between concrete density and concrete strength?

-> Lim Ooi Yuan aka Iverson D.Yuan

Concrete strength is directly proportional to concrete density. A higher concrete density means that the porous structure in concrete has reduce reduce. This is because the void in concrete has been occupied by hydration product. This hydration product is the main component of concrete strength

Is that concrete harder than brick?
